Welcome to Captain Tim’s Hook-N-Trigger Guide Service in Minnesota!
I would be happy to create an unforgettable trip for you!
When it comes to the sports of fishing and hunting, I have spent my entire life placing a high value on time spent outdoors, pursuing excellence. To me, there is not much better than the thrill of a big fish striking the bait, a screaming drag, or a covey rise over a stylish pointing dog.
Paired with some good companions, engaging conversation and laughs – well… it doesn’t get much better than that.
For over four decades, I have been scouring the state of Minnesota, as well as other parts of the country, to find the best fishing and hunting that there is to offer. As a young man, I remember pouring over plat books – with the goal of fishing every lake in the county. Sometimes this meant bushwhacking through the woods, or knocking on doors to gain access on private land.
Nowadays, it has become much easier with public access on the majority of the fish-able water, sophisticated lake maps and phone apps like OnX.
My travels have taken me all over the country – from Alaska to Florida and everywhere in-between, including the Canadian provinces. Along the way, I’ve become comfortable multispecies fishing, and hunting most of the small and big game that exists in the country. My thirst for a new adventure never ends; I have a never-ending list of things to do on my bucket list.

Fishing and hunting trips in Minnesota
Throughout the open water fishing season, I will be pursuing all the species of fish in Minnesota with fishing rod, or in the case of giant carp and bigmouth buffalo, the bow and arrow! And though the Brainerd Lakes Area is my home base, my pursuits sometimes take me all over the northern half of the state. I tend to go where the action is.
Fall is my favorite time of year, and that is when I start to juggle in guiding for ruffed grouse and woodcock in Minnesota. October and early November are primetime, and this is when you can join me in the north woods to be thrilled by the fall colors, a classic point, the thunder of wings, beautiful birds, and some mighty fine table fare at that.

I have two new projects:
One, as winter progresses into January and February, I plan on transitioning to southern Arizona – where my dog team and I can increase our skill at hunting the quail trifecta. God willing, we are hoping to begin guiding down there in the winter of 2024/2025.
The second new project of mine is spending mid-February to mid-May in Florida – learning how to fish the ocean and the inland lakes, so that I can guide there in my retirement years.

My wife and I booked a fishing expedition with Tim during our stay at Majestic View B & B in July 2022. Everything about the outing was fun and the fishing was fantastic! The reds (Sockeye) were swarming and jumping in the exact spot Tim navigated us to, and we had no problem reaching our limit. We’ve been enjoying the fruits of the Katchemak Bay since we returned home, as we shipped back over 30 pounds of beautiful fish.
